Show Someone You Care By Gifting Them A Quality Pillow

It’s the holiday season, which means it is time to think about the gifts you’ll give. And no one judges you for waiting until the last minute! Everyone does it. And we’re about to make your holiday shopping much easier because it can be difficult to know what to get.

NPR found a shocking statistic about the prevalence of unhealthy sleep. Researchers found that inadequate sleep, defined as seven hours or fewer, increased from 30.9% in 2010 to 35.6% in 2018. Adults need all the help they can get when it comes to proper sleep health. Oftentimes, it’s hard to know when we need a new pillow or that old pillows can be a detriment to our sleep health.

Negative Effects of Old Pillows

Pillows aren’t made to last forever, especially if they’re made with cheaper materials. There are several ways in which a pillow can decline in performance. If the pillow is past its prime, it can affect allergies, head and spine alignment, and overall sleep health.

Allergies

We recommend that you wash or switch out your pillowcase every week. The more you use your pillow, the more likely it will collect dust, dead skin cells, oils, and dust mites. Those invaders may exacerbate allergic symptoms, even if you change your pillowcases often. Read our article on how old pillows may affect your allergies to learn more.

Pillow Shape

There’s a simple test you can perform to determine if your pillow has lost its shape. Fold your pillow, and if it doesn’t spring back into shape, then it might be time for a new pillow. Feather down pillows, especially, lose their shape with frequent use. Pillow shape affects your head and neck alignment. When you don’t sleep with your head in a neutral position, you may put undue stress on your neck, shoulders, or spine. We’ve discussed proper neck and head alignment and the need for a supportive pillow material.

If your loved one tosses and turns throughout the night and can’t seem to find comfort, it may be time to upgrade their pillow situation.

Give the Gift of Better Sleep

JUVEA™ pillows use natural latex and undergo the Talalay method. Our pillow creation process yields buoyant, long-lasting pillows that keep their shape all night long. The pillows’ open cell structure allows for more airflow, which helps regulate body temperature throughout the night. But, you knew all that.

Around this time every year, we struggle to give the perfect gift. “Will he or she use this thing once or twice before they throw it away? Or will they get any use out of it?”

Everyone needs proper sleep to be effective in their day-to-day life. It can be hard to witness a loved one suffer from poor sleep. A new pillow could set them on the right path to better sleep and a healthier new year. Visit our pillow collection; give the gift of better sleep this holiday season.
